Excerpt
Excerpt: Frantz Fanon published his most renowned work, The Wretched of the Earth, in 1961—the same year that South Africa officially became an apartheid republic. Given the recent resurgence of Fanon's popularity in South Africa, it is timely to revisit his work. His critiques of the post-colonial elite and the national bourgeoisie have garnered significant attention from left-wing academics and populist political groups, notably the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). These groups have embraced Fanon's analysis to critique the ongoing social and economic inequalities in the country, highlighting his enduring relevance in contemporary South African politics.
