The Journal of Resistance Studies (JRS) invites high-quality research submissions for the Spring 2025 issue. Our mission is to advance the emerging field of resistance studies by exploring how individuals, groups, and communities resist and transform power structures and relationships, whether within broader societal systems or everyday environments.
We are particularly interested in submissions that focus on resistance, including but not limited to:
- Theoretical developments
- Empirical research
- Case studies
In addition to research articles, we welcome innovative formats, discussions, and creative outputs.
We are especially interested in content that explores activist perspectives and fosters engagement between research and activism or the practice of resistance. Activists interested in contributing are encouraged to contact us.
We also strongly encourage submissions from researchers and activists with diverse backgrounds, even – or especially – those offering perspectives that may challenge Western academic concepts.
Why Publish with Us?
The Journal of Resistance Studies is dedicated to fostering research that not only advances academic discourse but also supports real-world activism and resistance. As an independent journal, we strive to make our content accessible and actively promote the journal and your articles. In addition to using mainstream academic platforms in North America and Europe, we aim to reach broader audiences.
In 2025, we are launching a new strategy to increase visibility. As an independent journal, we are committed to amplifying the impact of every article and supporting our authors.
At the same time, we uphold the highest standards of quality. Since we aim to establish resistance studies as a recognized field, it is crucial that submissions align with our focus on resistance.
