About the fees

Our Conference Fees Structure seeks to balance the need to make the conference affordable, particularly for low income students, activist, and researchers from around the world, and partially recover some of the costs such as facilities and infrastructure hiring. Given the nature of this event, please note that the majority of participants are from low income backgrounds, such as researchers, activists and students from all around the world. Those who can afford to contribute can help us sustain the costs and make this conference possible. There will also be the option to give more, so you can help subsiding costs for lower income participants.

We have 3 tiers of pricing:

  1. Full fee: For participants with institutional support or stable, higher incomes. This includes full-time academics, professionals, or anyone whose registration is covered by an employer, university, or grant.
  2. Reduced fee: For participants with limited access to funding or unstable income. This includes precariously employed academics, independent researchers, NGO workers, activists, and community organisers who have some income but no institutional support.
  3. Student/ unwaged: For participants with very limited financial means. This includes students, unwaged or underemployed participants, and participants for whom cost would otherwise be a barrier to participation.
Please choose the tier that best reflects your current circumstances.

If you are not presenting, you can select the audience tier.

All registered participants will receive a FREE 1 Year membership to the Resistance Studies Hub, which includes a subscription to the Journal of Resistance Studies, access to the Resistance Studies Network community platform, and more community activities.

Before we get started

Thanks for considering a submission to the Journal of Resistance Studies! Before we get started, we just want to make sure that everything is ready. JRS receives more submissions than we can publish. As a journal for a relatively new academic field, it is important for us to publish texts that contribute to developing 'Resistance Studies' with theoretical ideas, high quality empirical material, interesting analysis, and/or cases from a wide spectra of societal contexts.

Does your article:

  • Have a clear focus on 'resistance' and how resistance influences power relations?
  • Contribute to our theoretical understanding of resistance, or is a better fit for the sociology of social movement field?
  • Include an abstract, citations, and a reference list?
  • Does it follow the guidelines in our policy statement?

If you have answered yes to these questions, we look forward to reading your submission. Let's go!
