Excerpt
The passing of Gandhian educator Narayan Desai on March 15, 2015, marked the end of an era. Desai, who grew up in the presence of Mahatma Gandhi, was the last of a generation deeply influenced by the iconic leader. As the son of Mahadev Desai, Gandhi's personal secretary and close confidant, Narayan Desai was raised in the Ashrams at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, and Sevagram. He frequently reflected on his childhood, sharing stories of his experiences as a student under the guidance of India's founding father.
