Abstract The pathology of resistance refers to the study of the weaknesses and challenges of resistance movements when shocks occur due to internal and external factors. Resistance refers to the resilience of humans and phenomena in favorable and unfavorable conditions. This phenomenon has been examined in the university, the first institution of higher and specialized education, to see how it becomes a dominant discourse. Discourse has been used in the writings of Machiavelli, Hobbes, Michel Foucault, and in different meanings. Foucault considers discourse as actions that systematically shape the subjects who speak themselves. Discourses do not speak about subjects and do not determine the identity of subjects. Rather, discourse is the creator of subjects, and its intervention is not apparent in the process of this construction. Discourse is formed from the behavior and actions of organizations and the social and political communications of individuals. Today, the study of resistance and its sustainability as a phenomenon against ruling powers such as imperialism, fascism, and systematic global threats is one of the central principles of political, social, historical, and international analysis. The question is why resistances fail and cannot endure and do not have the ability to return to the path of growth after failure. This article will address the root causes of anomalies, deviations, and problems of resistance, and for this, the mechanisms of resistance sustainability as a social and political phenomenon need to continue the production and reproduction of knowledge, institutionalization, and localization of concepts to reproduce discourse in academic, public, and international arenas. According to what has been presented, the research question is formulated as follows: For the pathology of resistance movements from university to discourse and its impact on the global order, what sustainable mechanisms are needed with a future-oriented approach? It is assumed that despite extensive studies in the field of resistance in recent years, the mechanisms of sustainability between the university and the discourse based on the structure and agent and futurist approaches have not been presented so that the interaction between institutional structures and discourse principles and scientific actors in the sustainability of resistance movements can be developed and presented as a future project. The sustainability and effectiveness of resistance depends on the coherence of scientific, institutional networks, the production and reproduction of discourse and the active role of agents, the basis for which the mechanisms of institutionalization of knowledge and ideology, domestic and international networking cause the production and reproduction of discourse and operational strategies. Successful resistance has not only been able to limit the dominant powers. It has also influenced the process of reproducing the world order and has led to the formation of new institutional and normative frameworks. In addition, the continuity and sustainability of resistance depends on its strengthening and support in the link between the university and the general discourse, the enhancement of institutional capacities and the active role of scientific agents and the production and reproduction of knowledge. In this research, the structure-agent method with a prospective research approach that includes: descriptive, analytical, comparative, historical, documentary and discourse is used, in which the mechanisms of knowledge institutionalization, scientific networking, discourse production and cognitive activity are selected as the main components. Trends, paths and possible scenarios will be outlined as a result of the transformation of resistance's impact on world order in the short, medium and long term. This research considers resistance as a dynamic, multidimensional and multilevel process that is formed in the context of scientific and socio-political developments. In addition, this research will try to enrich the literature of resistance studies and scientific policy by providing an analytical framework for future researchers. In addition, by adopting an analytical approach, the mechanisms are used to explain the processes by which the phenomenon of resistance is reproduced and documented at the scientific and discourse level. Keywords: pathology, resistance, sustainability, mechanisms, university, discourse, structure and agent, futures research, etc.

Before we get started

Thanks for considering a submission to the Journal of Resistance Studies! Before we get started, we just want to make sure that everything is ready. JRS receives more submissions than we can publish. As a journal for a relatively new academic field, it is important for us to publish texts that contribute to developing 'Resistance Studies' with theoretical ideas, high quality empirical material, interesting analysis, and/or cases from a wide spectra of societal contexts.

Does your article:

  • Have a clear focus on 'resistance' and how resistance influences power relations?
  • Contribute to our theoretical understanding of resistance, or is a better fit for the sociology of social movement field?
  • Include an abstract, citations, and a reference list?
  • Does it follow the guidelines in our policy statement?

If you have answered yes to these questions, we look forward to reading your submission. Let's go!
