Our Stories as Resistance: A Liberatory Theatre Story as Resistance Workshop
Lori Wynters
SUNY New Paltz
Through the methods and practices of liberatory theatre practices including Theatre of the Oppressed, Playback Theatre, and emancipatory movement practices including psychogeography and songs/music from resistance movements, we will explore the power of improvisational story telling work, honoring our lived experiences as embodied scholarship, and applied scholarship that are practices of unveiling truths and are practices of resistance, community building , nourishing relational culture, moving from the story of separation to the stories of connection and solidarity, and ways we contribute to systemic and structural change through liberatory theatre.
