Verb-ing Care: A Map to Nurturing Collective Care
Parvathy J
Verb-ing Care: A Map to Nurturing Collective Care is a participatory workshop that explores everyday acts of care as forms of resistance and as seeds for collective care ecosystems. Care labour — especially small, everyday practices — often remains invisible, feminised, or privatised despite its role in enabling access, survival, and participation. This workshop examines what becomes possible when acts of care are intentionally noticed, named, and documented. Participants will identify acts of care that made their presence at the workshop possible and map the forms of dispossession, structural inequality, or systemic injustice these acts address or push back against. Using this collective archive as a map, the session then explores how individual gestures can be adapted into shared practices within communities and movements. By documenting and analysing everyday care, the workshop positions care as both method and resistance: a way of making labour visible, tracing interdependence, and generating practical starting points for nurturing more accessible, collective forms of care.
